THE EARLY AMERICAN DOLL SERIES
Description of the Original Series: The idea for this series came to me because I have always specialized as much in the accessories for my dolls as the dolls themselves. Inspired by history, I love the humbleness and simplicity of Early Americana. I wanted this series to embody those two ideals and I wanted all of the pieces to be of the highest quality this scale permits.
The series begins with the Basic Doll and her 3" doll's doll then continues on with furniture, rugs, quilts and other accessories which would make her fun and fulfill the dream.

This beloved series is no longer available in its entirety. Only the dolls and the clothing are available indefinitely which you can order below. Although it is sad to see the rest of the series (furniture and accessories) go, they have been around for a long time and it is a necessary part of my dollmaking journey. You may be able to find many of the furniture and accessory items from the series on Ebay and from time to time we may re-issue various of the kits or finished items.

THE BASIC DOLL (and her 3" Doll's Doll) - The Early American Doll Series was based on this "basic doll". It was to begin with a basic doll - a doll that was simple and affordable, but not plain and I wanted her appealing to the heart. Her construction is taken from humble cloth dolls, but she becomes a little more defined with her delicate joints and painted surface, which is another old-time technique. She has a mohair wig and is stuffed with real wool. Her jointed arms and legs are weighted so she will sit well. She comes, and I like her best, in her camisole and pantaloons, but then there is clothing to add and accessories as well. She even has her own doll (which comes with her in the kit). I have tried to make the kits as fool-proof as possible with silkscreened sewing lines, premeasured stuffing amounts and stencils for face detail. Patterns are also included for future bodies or you can order additional silkscreens. Her 3" doll's doll is included in the kit but sold separately if purchased finished.

THE COMPANION DOLL (shown at right) - This doll is proportioned the same as the Basic Doll and clothes will be interchangeable (only bonnets need some adjusting due to difference of head styles), but the Companion Doll has a molded head, hands and feet cast in papier mache which are easily painted (stencil to help get the features right) and assembled. She too comes in her underwear - ribbon-trimmed camisole and pantalets.
